TOKYO — Synthetic diamond production and power infrastructure projects by Hitachi are among the candidates for the first investments by Japanese companies in the U.S. under Tokyo’s $550 billion investment commitment in last year’s tariff deal, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations.
