Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Pakistan, held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on global and regional security issues during a meeting in Munich, Germany, on February 14, 2026.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, where world leaders, defence officials and policymakers gathered to deliberate on pressing international security challenges. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussions focused on evolving security dynamics and counterterrorism cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

Field Marshal Munir was in Germany from February 12 to 14 to attend the conference and engage with international counterparts. During his visit, he also met senior German officials to discuss bilateral defence collaboration and shared security priorities.

Among those he met were German Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt, Foreign Policy and Security Advisor Günter Sautter, and Chief of Defence of the German Armed Forces General Carsten Breuer. The meetings centered on strengthening defence ties, enhancing strategic dialogue, and addressing contemporary global and regional security challenges.

The army chief also held separate interactions with senior military leaders from Brazil and Lebanon, discussing avenues for enhanced defence cooperation and coordinated efforts to promote peace and stability through bilateral and multilateral engagement.
