The club confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing an end to a glittering nine‑year career at Anfield that saw him become one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history. Salah’s departure was announced by the club on March 24, with his contract being allowed to expire, marking the conclusion of a period in which he helped Liverpool secure numerous honours including Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League crown.

Salah, now 33, joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and quickly established himself as a talismanic figure, scoring 255 goals in 435 appearances, making him the club’s third‑highest all‑time scorer and a four‑time Premier League Golden Boot winner. His contributions on the field included scoring pivotal goals in domestic and European competitions, earning him wide recognition among fans and pundits alike.

In a video message shared on social media, Salah expressed his deep gratitude to Liverpool fans and the city, saying that Anfield had been “his home” and thanking supporters for their unwavering backing. The forward’s announcement comes despite having one year left on his contract, with both club and player agreeing that a mutual exit at season’s end was the best course of action. Future destinations for Salah remain uncertain, though media reports have linked him with moves to leagues such as the Saudi Pro League.

The culmination of Salah’s tenure at Liverpool marks the end of a modern era at the club and the beginning of a new chapter for both player and team. His departure is expected to be a focal point of attention for supporters during the final fixtures of the season, with many reflecting on his long‑lasting impact at Anfield and his status as one of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards.
