The 98th Academy Awards celebrated the biggest achievements in global cinema on Sunday night, with the film One Battle After Another emerging as the biggest winner of the evening. The film secured six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, at the ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The event, hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, honoured films released in 2025 across 24 categories. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another led the awards tally, winning prizes for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film Editing and Best Casting.
In the acting categories, Michael B. Jordan won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Sinners, marking his first Academy Award. Jessie Buckley received the Best Actress award for her performance in Hamnet.
The award for Best Supporting Actor went to Sean Penn for his role in One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.
Other notable winners included KPop Demon Hunters, which secured the Best Animated Feature award, and The Secret Agent, which took home the Oscar for Best International Feature Film.
The ceremony highlighted major achievements in filmmaking, with Sinners entering the night as the most nominated film with 16 nominations, although it ultimately secured fewer wins than One Battle After Another.
