The United States and Israel have carried out a new wave of military strikes against Iran, targeting key command infrastructure of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Tehran, including a central IRGC command centre, according to US military statements and regional media reports. The strikes form part of a rapidly escalating conflict after joint US‑Israeli operations over the weekend triggered widespread retaliation by Iranian forces across the Middle East.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces destroyed air defence installations, IRGC command and control nodes, missile launch sites and other strategic targets, asserting that the elite Revolutionary Guard’s headquarters no longer exists as an effective operational centre. Israeli military sources also reported multiple precision airstrikes on IRGC facilities across Tehran and other parts of Iran, including intelligence and internal security headquarters.
Iran has responded with retaliatory missile and drone strikes against US bases and allied territories in the region, including reported attacks on Riyadh and other Gulf locations, and missile launches toward Israeli population centres. The conflict has expanded beyond Iran’s borders, drawing in allied proxy groups and widening military engagements in Lebanon and elsewhere.
The intensified strikes come amid mounting casualties and infrastructure damage, with preliminary tallies suggesting hundreds of deaths in Iran and dozens of casualties across the region in recent days. Global markets and shipping lanes, especially through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, have been disrupted by the violence, sparking concerns about prolonged instability and broader geopolitical fallout.
