Nobel Peace Prize laureate and education advocate Malala Yousafzai has announced the opening of applications for the Malala Yousafzai Scholarship under the Oxford Pakistan Programme, a fully funded initiative enabling Pakistani women to pursue master’s and higher degrees at the University of Oxford.
In a message shared on social media, Malala reflected on her own journey at Oxford and said it was important for her to support girls who have struggled for their right to education and aspire to continue their academic pursuits. She noted that the scholarship is designed to assist talented Pakistani women who wish to study at Oxford and return home equipped to contribute positively to their communities.
Malala recalled being denied schooling at the age of 11 when educational institutions were shut down in her region, describing her opportunity to complete her degree at Oxford as deeply meaningful. She emphasized that she does not want her experience to remain exceptional, but rather to become a pathway for many others.
Highlighting the potential of Pakistani girls to excel and lead, she urged eligible candidates to apply through the Oxford Pakistan Programme website. The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, covering the full cost of higher education at Oxford. Malala expressed optimism that a new generation of scholars would seize the opportunity and said she looks forward to welcoming them to the university.
