Pakistan Protests Today: PTI, JUI-F Hold Nationwide Strike Over Poll Rigging Claims

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and allied opposition groups are holding nationwide protests and a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike today, 8 February 2026, to mark the second anniversary of the controversial 2024 general elections and to voice ongoing grievances over alleged poll rigging. Leaders from PTI and its allied party Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan (TTAP) officially announced the plan for peaceful nationwide protests and silent strikes, urging supporters to participate without violent disruption. The protest agenda also places emphasis on calling for improved medical access and transparency regarding the health of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, a central rallying issue for the party’s base.

In a recent development, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has publicly declared its full support for the Feb 8 protest action, aligning with PTI and TTAP in rejecting the 2024 elections and calling for fresh polls. JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman spoke at a press conference alongside PTI figures, reinforcing the opposition coalition’s message of democratic reform.

Security authorities in Sindh have stated there will be no allowance for disorderly activities or disruptions linked to the protests, indicating law enforcement will be on alert to prevent any civil unrest as the demonstrations unfold.

The Feb 8 protests are occurring against the backdrop of heightened national tensions following the Islamabad mosque suicide bombing earlier this week, which saw arrests of suspects and widespread condemnation, events that continue to shape the country’s political climate today.
