A mayor in the Philippines has survived a rocket launcher attack on his vehicle in broad daylight.

CCTV footage captured the moment when one of the attackers fired at the SUV carrying mayor Akmad Mitra Ampatuan, causing an explosion.

Ampatuan’s car is seen stopping briefly and driving away after the hit.

The mayor survived the grenade attack on Sunday, Shariff Aguak’s Municipality said in a Facebook post, but according to Philippines’ GMA News, two of his security guards were injured.

At least three attackers were killed by police, according to media sources.

The latest attack marks the fourth ambush attempt against Ampatuan in recent years.
