WAH: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah on Saturday to review its defence production capabilities, export potential and ongoing indigenisation efforts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was briefed on POF’s operations and its role in strengthening Pakistan’s defence industrial base through the indigenous development and production of military equipment.
The CDF witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition, according to the military’s media wing.
What did Munir review during the visit?
Field Marshal Munir reviewed POF’s production capabilities and efforts to expand domestic defence manufacturing.
He was also briefed on the complex’s export potential and its contribution to Pakistan’s defence industrial base.
The ISPR said the locally developed and manufactured equipment demonstrated POF’s efforts to improve innovation, self-reliance and domestic defence production.
Munir was also given an overview of progress on the corporatisation process following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DIPRA) Ordinance.
When will new POF plants begin production?
The CDF was briefed on ongoing indigenisation and upgrading initiatives at POF, including the installation of two new industrial plants.
According to the ISPR, the plants are expected to begin production by the end of 2026.
The military said Munir’s visit reflected the armed forces’ focus on strengthening self-reliance, expanding indigenous defence production and promoting technological innovation in Pakistan’s defence sector.
