LONDON: Christine McGuinness has described co-parenting with former husband Paddy McGuinness as a “blessing” despite the difficulties surrounding their divorce.
The couple separated in 2022 but have continued living together in their family home to maintain stability for their three children.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Christine said divorce had been a difficult experience but acknowledged that their decision to remain under the same roof had worked well for their family.
Why Have Christine and Paddy Continued Living Together?
Christine said the couple chose to continue sharing their home because their children benefit from having a stable and consistent routine.
The former couple have three children — twins Penelope and Leo, 11, and Felicity, eight. Christine said maintaining the family home allows the children to avoid moving between separate households.
“Divorce is scary,” Christine said, describing the experience as challenging and difficult.
She added that public perceptions of divorce often focus on heartbreak and broken families, while some separated couples are able to maintain a cooperative family arrangement.
How Has Co-Parenting Worked for the Family?
Christine said the couple made their children’s wellbeing the priority from the beginning of their separation.
“I actually do think it is a blessing, the way we work co-parenting,” she said.
She said the family has no immediate plans to sell their home because the children are comfortable there and thrive on routine.
Christine acknowledged that she would eventually like to have a separate flat but said she remains comfortable in the family home.
The former couple have maintained an amicable relationship since their separation, with Christine saying their ability to work together has helped them provide stability for their children.
Meanwhile, Paddy, who hosts a weekly programme on BBC Radio 2, has reportedly moved on from his previous marriage and is dating a Radio 2 publicist.
