KARACHI: The Sindh government will broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals and final on big screens at multiple venues across the province as part of efforts to promote sports and youth engagement.
The initiative, announced by the Sindh Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, will allow football fans to watch the tournament’s closing matches at designated public venues in Karachi and several other cities.
Where will the matches be screened?
Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar said the semi-finals, scheduled for 15 and 16 July, will be screened at the Youth Development Centre in Sharafi Goth, Malir.
The World Cup final, to be played on 20 July, will also be shown at the same venue.
The department will also arrange public screenings in Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.
In Sukkur, both semi-finals and the final will be shown at the Municipal Stadium, while Rohri Football Ground will host a public screening of the final.
The Sports Complex in Ghotki will screen all three matches, while the Thatta Sports Complex will host a screening of the final.
Which teams have reached the semi-finals?
The four teams to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals are France, Spain, England and Argentina.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 15 and 16 July, with the tournament concluding with the final on 20 July.
Why is the government organising the screenings?
Mahar said the initiative is intended to encourage sports participation and provide opportunities for young people to engage with international sporting events.
He said the government is continuing efforts to promote healthy recreational activities and strengthen football culture across the province through public sporting initiatives.
