LOS ANGELES: Veteran actor Beau Starr, known for his roles in crime classic Goodfellas and the Halloween film franchise, has died at the age of 81.
According to media reports, Starr passed away of natural causes on April 24 in Vancouver, Canada. The news was confirmed by his younger brother, actor Mike Starr.
In a statement, Mike Starr described his brother as “very unique and special,” adding that he had been a strong influence throughout his life.
Starr was widely recognised by horror fans for his role as Sheriff Meeker in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. He also appeared in Goodfellas, further cementing his place in popular culture.
Over a career spanning several decades, Starr featured in a number of popular television series, including Knight Rider, MacGyver and The A-Team.
Before entering the entertainment industry, he had a brief career in professional football, spending time with the New York Jets practice squad and later playing in the Canadian Football League.
Actor Christopher Seronne paid tribute to Starr on social media, remembering him as someone who lived a “rich and meaningful life.”
Starr is survived by his family, including his brother and extended relatives.
